Dr Bruce Lipton is a cell biologist who is interested in epigenetics – the study of external modifications to DNA that turn genes “on” or “off”. Dr Lipton concludes that our cells are mainly controlled by the environment rather than our genes. My partner, Al, and I attended his conference in London on 27 October 2018 – here’s a brief summary of part of his presentation. Look out for other blogs on this topic too.
Cell biology and epigenetics
Our bodies are made up of about 50 trillion cells and every day 50-70 billion of those cells die and need to be replaced. Our cells are complex structures which are continually balancing the amount of molecules and materials entering and leaving the cell to maintain homeostasis (stability).
Dr Lipton (and others including many quantum physicists) have examined in great detail the processes by which cells receive information in order to function. The implications of this research radically change our understanding of life. It shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology; that instead DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell. No longer can we attribute ill-health to our genes and DNA – research is showing that less than 5% of health conditions are caused by faulty genes.
Trauma (physical triggers), toxins (chemical triggers) and thoughts (emotional triggers) can send the wrong signals or can send signals to our cells at the wrong time and this can lead to imbalance and dis-ease.
It’s also important to understand that although we appear to have a solid form, every part of our body right down to the atomic level is made up of energy which is vibrating at different frequencies. Our atoms emit and absorb energy. In order for our cells and bodies to function effectively and efficiently, the energies in and around our body need to be in balance. Our environment affects our energy. If our energies are in harmony this creates better health. However, when the body is in a state of stress, for whatever reason, our energies are not in harmony and dis-ease can occur. This is particularly the case when we are in a stressed state for long periods of time, which frequently happens with many people in todays’ society.
In his presentation, Dr Lipton stated that ‘energy is the most effective form of healing’. So, when you take time out to relax or you have an energy based therapy, it is allowing the environment of your cells to be more balanced and in harmony. Doing this regularly will contribute to better health and less dis-ease in your body.
So, we can all take more control of our environment and biology and ultimately our health.
