Thermal Treatment Rooms
Housed in two beautiful vaulted cellars, our thermal treatment rooms are based on ancient Roman bathhouses which were the height of luxury in Roman times. The rooms are dry heat rooms with exposed stone work, soft lighting, gentle music, calming aromas and relaxing loungers, all designed to aid meditation, calm your energy and create harmony. Use of the thermal rooms will also increase circulation, sooth sensory nerve endings, purify your skin, increase metabolism and relax your muscles fibres in preparation for your spa treatments. The gentle warmth will soothe your spirit and allow your cares to drift away.
Our Laconium is a room with individual loungers with the soothing aromas of eucalyptus oil to enhance your experience. Our Tepidarium has long reclining benches complete with a beautiful Himalayan salt brick wall – the perfect haven to clear your mind and be at one with yourself. The central area offers a cooler space for a refreshing drink.
The thermal treatment rooms can be booked for an hour for £20 any time as a stand-alone treatment or you can add them to any of our pamper packages or treatments. We keep the thermal rooms purposely quiet for your peace and relaxation, so places are limited; please call to book in advance. Cost: £20.
Contraindications for using our thermal rooms include pregnancy, infectious skin diseases, unstable angina pectoris, recent myocardial infarction, severe aortic stenosis, high or low blood pressure, fever and epilepsy.
Please note that our thermal rooms are in our cellars which are accessed by stairs.
Tepidarium with salt brick wall
The Tepidarium was the warm (tepidus) bathing area of the Roman baths, heated by a clever underfloor heating system. With no interruptions from the outside world, the warmth of the rooms and the benefits of the Himalyan salt brick wall facilitate a deeper wellness experience.
