Wellness Programme – delivered by the Yorkshire Wellness Centre

At Alexandra House Spa our focus has always been to offer tranquillity and space to switch off from everyday life, enjoy a relaxing treatment and pamper your mind and body. Owner, Maxine Stead, has a medical background having worked in cancer research before opening the spa. Maxine’s PhD researched the effects of cancer on people’s quality of life and she has always been interested in helping people live happier and better quality lives.  In 2019, Maxine established the Yorkshire Wellness Centre, offering 1:1 therapies, workshops and wellness courses. Building on the ethos of the Spa and Maxine’s background and expertise, our Wellness Programme aims to move beyond relaxation and pampering, giving you tools to lead a calmer and happier life.

Life today can be challenging – balancing work, home life, family, friends and multiple roles. We live in a world with relentless digital and media overload with constant access to unpleasant news, updates about everyone’s lives and views and an unrelenting pressure to keep in touch and keep up-to-date with everyone and everything. Such ‘noise’ in our lives can affect our ability to focus, increase stress hormones, lead to anxiety and depression and affect the quality of our sleep.

These pressures make it even more important to make time to quieten your mind and learn new ways to help you cope with everyday life.

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is an on-going process of change and growth. Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is crucial to live a higher quality life. With our Wellness Programme, you can leave the shrieking world behind, digitally disconnect, reconnect with and strengthen your inner self and take some positive steps to make your life more enjoyable and manageable.

  • Group Wellness Workshops
  • Meditation Sessions in our Thermal Rooms
  • Recommendations for a spa treatment or pamper package
  • Advice about aromatherapy body oils, bath oils and essential oils that you can use at home
